The girl was crossing over the intersection of East Blackwell Street and South Morris Street in Dover when she was hit by a 49-year-old woman driving a 2009 Toyota Camry just after 5:30 p.m., Police Deputy Chief Jonathan E. Delaney told Daily Voice.
The driver was turning left onto South Morris Street from East Blackwell Street when she struck the girl -- who had the right of way and was in the marked crosswalk, authorities said.
The girl was transported to Saint Clare's Hospital Dover Campus with minor injuries, authorities said.
The driver was issued a summons and is scheduled to appear in court.
“The Dover Police Department continues to participate in the StreetSmart NJ Pedestrian Safety Program which aims to reduce these type of accidents involving pedestrians in our community,” Delaney said.
